Abstract:
In the present work, the change points of the exceedance data of PM10 threshold 100, for the city of Bogotá, are determined from the number of exceedances of the norm per month. The way in which the points of change are established and their respective location is by means of the genetic algorithm. This algorithm is based on the interaction of two chromosomes (mother and father) and their mutations, to conceive a generation of descendants with certain suitable characteristics. The descendants will be qualified by means of the MDL (minimum description length). The best qualified, will provide information on how many and which points of change there are in the series. The timeline of interest includes from January 1, 2004 to August 31, 2015. The determination of the points of change in this series will help to know the goodness of the environmental public policies implemented in the city.
